Technical infrastructure

Your Prodin environment consists of the following elements:

Prodin server (in house server or hosted in the PBS cloud) with an installation of your Prodin licences. This is an extra server dedicated for Prodin, additional to your servers serving as fileserver, emailserver and terminalserver.
Printers and other peripherals.
Fixed workspaces (computers and/or thin clients)
Mobile devices such as tablets or scanners.

Some of the listed specifications are mandatory when using Prodin. Another part of de listed specifications will influence the performance of the Prodin applications. The perception of performance is very personal and subjective, so in the same situation users can give different reviews about the performance. The experienced performance is also dependant on the use of Prodin, so it is not exact science. We have marked these items with "= advice". For questions please contact PBS.

In house (local) Prodin server

The listed server hardware specifications are valid for supporting a maximum of 40 Prodin users. In case your situation require the support of more than 40 Prodin users please contact PBS. The specifications are:

Processor: Intel Xeon ≥ 3.2 GHz (base frequence), 1 vCPU for the OS, additional 1 vCPU per 5 users. The processor base frequency has substantially influence on the experienced performance.
RAM memory: 12 GB + 0,5 GB per user + 2 GB for StreamServe (= advice)
Disk capacity: 2 x SSD ≥ 250 GB (RAID 1 or 4 x = RAID 10) (= advice)

The configuration of your hardware is very important for the experienced performance, so we offer you to check the quotation from your hardware supplier for the correct hardware specifications. If you want to make use of this check, please contact your contact at PBS.

Installation and setup:

Windows server 2016 including a Remote Desktop services role, sufficient (terminal server) licences for the Prodin Business Client users, one licence extra for support purposes.
Partitions: OS disk (C:) minimal 80 GB, Data disk (D:) minimal 150 GB.
PDF reader and Google Chrome.
Backup and antivirus software installed.
Service accounts and authorizations (specification on request available)
For optimum performance the settings influencing the behaviour of de processors: energy management set on maximum performance, fair share and Hyperthreading disabled (= advice).

Virtualisation means that your Prodin server will share resources with other servers, this will reduce the performance. In which degree is strongly depending on the chose setup and used components. With Hyper-V we have seen the best results in performance for Prodin.

Network/peripherals/various

This list with specifications below is valid is for all Prodin environment variants (both in house server and Prodin hosting):

Laserprinters PCL5 compatible
Labelprinters ZPL compatible
Printers connectable from a printserver or direct on ip-address
For sending email from Prodin is a SMTP server available (no webmail service)
Bandwidth Internet connection for VPN connection (for SQL replication and hosting) up to 20 users preferably at least 8/8 Mbps or better. Per extra user 0.1 Mbps extra (= advice).

Workspaces for Prodin Business Client licences

In general the required hardware specifications for using the Prodin Business client are limited. The requirements for the desktops/laptops are:

Computers: Microsoft Windows 10 (no home versions) or higher with a minimum of 8 GB.
Screen resolution has a maximum of 100 pixels per inch (= advice) needed for a good readability (a 24" 1080p screen has ca. 92 pixels per inch)
Remote Desktop server environment (with desktops or thin clients): minimal MS Windows 2012 R2 Server.

Workspaces for Prodin BWP licences

For workspaces using the Prodin Business Workplace licences the requirements are in accordance with the Prodin Business Client, additional requirements are:

Java version: 8 maximum version 2.01 (for Prodin 20 and older), for Prodin 21 and newer no java necessary.
RAM memory minimal 16 GB.
Screen resolution is minimal 1080p (1920 x 1080), pixels per inch is maximal 100 (= advice), a WQHD screen of minimal 27" (1440p) or even UWQHD is preferable.
Computers: recent Intel i3/i5/i7 (or AMD ryzen) processor with minimal 4 cores
Remote Desktop Server environment (with desktops or thin clients): Intel Xeon processor (≥ 3.2 Ghz) (or comparable AMD processor), 1 vCPU for the OS, with additional 1 core per 4 users, RAM memory 4 GB per user extra (= advice)

Workspaces for Mobile Field Service (MFS)

For workspaces using the Prodin Business Workplace licences the requirements are in accordance with the Prodin Business Client, additional requirements are:

Mobile devices (laptops or tablet's) with build-in mobile internet (no dongle) (= advice)
RAM memory minimal 16GB
Java version 8 maximum version 2.01
Screen resolution is minimal HD (1600 x 900), touchscreen (for placing signature) (= advice)
Recent Intel i3/5/7 (or ADM Ryzen) processor with minimal 4 cores (= advice)
